My favorite candy: Reese’s!
My favorite 80s movie: The Mission (watch it and let’s talk)
My family: I have a great family. Shannan, my wife of 16 years, was in my brother’s first class at the Murray State BSU. He called and said, “I’ve found a girl you need to meet and I think she’ll turn this ministry around, too.” Well, it took 4 years to catch her, but it was worth it. We have 3 great kids. Jack is our wonderful son that loves reading, soccer, video games and the Razorbacks! Anna Kate is our middle daughter that loves reading, soccer, High School Musical and just being sweet. Ellie is our youngest daughter. She loves HS Musical, her American Girl doll, Caroline and candy. Bear is our sweet puppy that we spoil.
My Journey: Before coming to La Tech BCM, I worked in campus ministry at FBC, Arlington, TX, U of Arkansas BCM and Ouachita Baptist University (the last 10 years). I earned a business degree from AR State and a MDIV from Southwestern Seminary. My favorite ministry is the take-director-to-lunch ministry. Take me to lunch on campus (yeah for declining balance) and let’s talk about your life, your issues and your walk.
Missions: I want missions to be a lifestyle not a emphasis week or a trip. God’s purpose is to be glorified and draw everybody to Himself. I want us to help students love God and love people from Tech to Timbuktu.
Ministry: Campus ministry is so exciting because if you can change a campus you can change the world. Join us as we take on a mission far bigger than anything we could come up with on our own.

I grew up in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, which is an hour north west of Nashville, Tennessee. I went to college at Murray State University nestled snugly in the south west corner of Kentucky where I graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations in May of 2000. I stuck around Murray State for two more years doing Collegiate Ministry at their Baptist Student Union. I then moved to Lexington, Kentucky for a year. I was a substitute teacher and traveled doing ministry with a buddy of mine.
I then decided I wanted to pursue higher education, so in the Fall of 2003, I started working on my Master’s of Divinity with a specialization in Collegiate Ministry from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. It was there I started dating Erin. We got married two weeks prior to Hurricane Katrina. After that, we moved to her hometown of Flintstone, Georgia (5 miles south of downtown Chattanooga), where we continued our seminary education on-line.
In the summer of 2006, I took this job as the Associate BCM Director at Louisiana Tech University.
Erin and I had a son, Jackson, in September of 2007.
Here at the BCM, I work extensively with our Freshmen Ministry as well as connecting students with church for retreats, Disciple Nows, and things of the like. I also facilitate Bible Studies and Discipleship Groups. I work with our leadership as well as the day-to-day programming.

I grew up in Lake Dallas, Texas, which a busying suburb north of Dallas. My parents raised me under biblical principles and imparted the Gospel to me at a very early age. I said “the prayer” when I was 8 sitting on the toilet (you could say that I was saved on the throne) but was not completely wooed by Christ until I was nearly 20 years old. I was recruited by LATECH to pitch and play outfield for the baseball team. I made the 5 hour trip to Ruston, LA to enroll in the fall of 2005 and began my studies. That year was a very difficult year for my family, with a barrage of heartaches that brought my family to their knees….. well, everyone but me that is. I had a very successful freshmen year on the the field, winning Freshmen All-American and WAC Freshmen of the Year awards. With my success, I fell into a life of sin and rebellion from God. Finally, in a trip to Oahu, Hawaii at North Shore Beach God brought me to my knees after a near swimming incident. In the Spring of 2008, I was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 20th Round. I played through two years of professional baseball and was released September of 2009. Today, Jesus has stirred my heart for the souls of men and am obeying my call for Kingdom work.

I was raised in a home where Christ was a part of our daily lives; we prayed before dinner, my mom would tape bible verses on the walls, we went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. When I was 9 years old, I was in a classroom at a Korean-Baptist church in Bossier, Louisiana, and my Sunday school teacher led me in prayer for salvation. A few weeks later, I was baptized.
As I got older, I realized that it was more than VBS, WWJD bracelets, and reading a few chapters of the bible every night. In high school, I wanted to figure things out for myself. I went through a rough patch, but after confronting my beliefs and searching for answers and reasons outside of what my parents were telling me, I found truth, hope, and assurance in the Lord. He drew me near through worship. There is life in the red letters, and the Lord showed me how to live through His Word.
Then there was college. I was free to make my own decisions, free to be whoever I wanted to be. The Lord pursued my heart from day one, and beckoned for me to follow after Him… so I did. Some days I sprint, and some days I crawl, but because of His grace, I know that I’ll never have to look back.
Summer of 2009, I surrendered to the ministry. After ending a serious relationship, the Lord took His place again as my first love. I was offered a position on staff at Louisiana Tech’s BCM as student intern, and after 3 days of prayer and seeking wise council, I accepted. My passion for discipling others became more evident as the school year progressed. I knew this wasn’t something I could save for the weekends or summers, but the Lord was asking me to forget my plans, and devote my life, full time, to His ministry.
I LOVE serving on staff at the Louisiana Tech BCM. I love to disciple others and am greatly encouraged by seeing them grow. After this school year, I plan on attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina and pursing a Masters of Divinity in women’s studies and college ministry.
